PDP Gets A New Chairman

The immediate past governor of Borno State, Alhaji Ali Modu-Sheriff has today been selected as the new Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This was after all organs of the party, including the national caucus, PDP Governors’ Forum and the National Assembly caucuses agreed on the choice of the former federal lawmaker for the position.

The Party's spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh disclosed this to newsmen at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja and added that the decision would be communicated to the Board of Trustees and subsequently, the National Executive Committee, NEC, for ratification after which a formal announcement would be made to the effect.

The proposed chairman would be stepping into the shoes of Ahmadu Mu’azu, who resigned as PDP chairman shortly after the 2015 general elections that saw the former ruling party lose the presidency, states that used to be under its control as well as majority seats in the National Assembly. Prince Uche Secondus has been acting as Chairman since then but had been asked to revert to his earlier post of Deputy National Chairman.
